Cali, Colombia (10 October 2024) – On 25 October, alongside the United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP16), leading sustainable finance practitioners and changemakers will explore cutting-edge solutions for biodiversity finance at the 7th GLF Investment Case Symposium, titled “Rewarding Nature: A Roadmap to Finance the Biodiversity Plan.”

Hosted by the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) and the Luxembourg–GLF Finance for Nature Platform, the 7th Investment Case will catalyze a variety of funding sources for biodiversity conservation, ecosystem-based adaptation and sustainable value chains, with a focus on Africa, Asia and Latin America.

The world’s biodiversity is being wiped out at unprecedented rates. This could soon cause the collapse of essential ecosystem services like food, clean water, materials and climate regulation – jeopardizing the livelihoods and food security of billions across the globe.

Attended by thousands of in-person and online participants and experts, including businesses, investors, governments, NGOs, scientists, Indigenous Peoples, local communities and youth, this event will discuss how humanity can raise $200 billion a year to fund initiatives and community efforts to reverse biodiversity decline.

The 7th GLF Investment Case Symposium will also explore ways to align the goals of the three Rio Conventions – biodiversity, climate and desertification – and pool resources to amplify their collective impact.

Key sessions at the 7th GLF Investment Case Symposium include:

  • Mobilizing the billions: Pathways to achieving the Global Biodiversity Framework – Hear high-level multisectoral panelists discuss financial hurdles and innovative solutions needed to mobilize $200 billion annually to support the Global Biodiversity Framework.
  • AI plenary: How is AI revolutionizing nature finance? – Discover how AI is reshaping sustainable finance across Latin America and the Caribbean, examining both its exciting potential and its challenges.
  • Resilient Landscapes Luxembourg: Accelerating high-impact investment opportunities in nature-based solutions – Find out how science and biodiversity can accelerate investments in nature-based solutions.

  • Dragons’ Den: Investing in Nature’s Future – Watch two innovative biodiversity projects pitch their ideas to a panel of expert investors.
  • Priorities and solutions for a global biodiversity finance roadmap – Join experts at the closing plenary as they debate priorities and solutions to achieve the goals of the Global Biodiversity Framework.
