Bonn, Germany (31 March 2025) – On 24–25 April, experts, scientists, practitioners, policymakers and grassroots leaders will convene at GLF Forests 2025 to foster global dialogue and action on forests, forge synergies beyond environmental policy and bridge the gap between high-level commitments and grassroots solutions.
Taking place online and in Bonn, Germany before the UN Forum on Forests, this conference offers a unique opportunity to dive into the power forests have on climate action, economic stability and human well-being.
Healthy forests are essential to mitigating the climate crisis, yet they are under intensifying threats in a warming world. GLF Forests 2025 is an important space to talk about safeguarding forests. The event will outline the next decade of action by focusing on:
- Forest policies: Protecting forest ecosystems at COP30 and beyond.
- Nature and climate finance: Unlocking innovative and underutilized finance mechanisms, carbon markets and locally-led financing schemes.
- Rights and a just transition: Co-creating a sustainable forest future for all and championing Indigenous Peoples, Afro-Descendants, local communities, women and youth.
- Food, fibers, fuels: Sowing a thriving forest bioeconomy for sustainable energy, food, carbon storage and conservation.
- AI and technology: Showcasing the latest AI-driven conservation solutions, community-led tech innovations and tools to bridge the global digital divide.
Experts from across the world will redefine the role of forest ecosystems as a cornerstone of mitigation and adaptation, catalysts for equitable and sustainable development and an integral part of human health and well-being.
