GLF Climate: Frontiers of Change
Hosted on the sidelines of COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, and online, GLF Climate 2022: Frontiers of Change united 7,000 participants from 164 countries and rallied over 27 million people on social media around what humanity can still do to avoid the worsening impacts of the climate crisis.
Featuring 228 leading scientists, activists, Indigenous leaders, financiers, youth and government leaders, and 96 incredible partner organizations, the second edition of GLF Climate called for a just transition to a stewardship economy that puts people and nature first.
Key messages
This donor report underscores four key messages on collective action for climate change. The overarching theme is a call for united, accountable, and sustained efforts across sectors to address climate change:
- Humanity and Long-Term View: Encourages moving beyond short-term trade-offs to support landscape actors in managing their environments.
- Resilient Adaptation: Advocates investing in locally-led, nature-based solutions grounded in local knowledge.
- Hope and Urgency: Expresses hope and calls for political commitments, private sector investments, and transformative coalitions for decisive action.
- Decarbonized Future: Highlights clear pathways for a decarbonized future, stressing accountability, aligned actions, and societal commitment to support the vulnerable.
