GLF Climate: Frontiers of Change
Hosted on the sidelines of COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, and online, GLF Climate 2022: Frontiers of Changeunited 7,000 participants from 164 countries and rallied over 27 million people on social media around what humanity can still do to avoid the worsening impacts of the climate crisis.
Featuring 228 leading scientists, activists, Indigenous leaders, financiers, youth and government leaders, and 96 incredible partner organizations, the second edition of GLF Climate called for a just transition to a stewardship economy that puts people and nature first.
Tackling transboundary climate hazards
This session explores how governments and other stakeholders can better use artificial intelligence and other remotely-sensed early warning data to effectively tackle transboundary climate hazards, including droughts, floods, crop pests, and pathogen outbreaks.
The discussion builds on findings from a research partnership led by TMG and the IGAD-Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC) exploring the scientific linkages between climate change and transboundary threats such as desert locusts, with a focus on the eastern Africa and Horn region. The session is co-hosted by TMG Think Tank and ICPAC, with support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development ( BMZ).
